house laws

Hello, what do you think would be the best way to approach talking to my in-laws about making sure that their house is childproofed and safe for when my kids (ages 1,2,and4) come to visit? I always feel like the paranoid daughter in-law when I mention something that I feel might be dangerous. I know it’s their house but my kids love going there (they live very close) and I would like to feel comfortable that they are taking the steps that most people would take to keep the kids safe. For example, I bought sliding outlet covers to put on their plugs b/c my daughter who is 1 loves to go and investigate the sockets…at our house, they are all covered. Should I just leave it and keep my kids at home most of the time except when I can be right with them?
Thanks!

What does she owe her common-law deadbeat?

common house law

My sister has asked her common law spouse of 8 years to move out. He doesn’t want to. She keeps reiterating the relationship is over, she wants him to move out.

He hasn’t worked for most of the relationship, he gets jobs frequently, but gets fired soon after.

They live in the house she just bought, entirely in her name, no equity in the house yet, but she’s fine if he takes every single bit of furniture.

They have 30K worth of bank debt from the course of their relationship, all in her name.

They’ve never filed tax returns as a couple. They live in Ontario Canada.

Does anyone know from a similar situation what it takes to evict him? Does she have to give him notice? He has a violent history with her, though he hasn’t hit her in years, and when she asked him to move out, he threw electronics around the house.
A split of assets & debts might do her better…. the bank owns the house entirely, there’s not a cent of equity in it, they have no assets… but he’d be stuck splitting the 30K of debt.

He can keep the better car… but he can’t afford the payment on it anyways, so it’ll be reposessed.

house laws

My husband and I bought our home w/ the help of a personal loan from his parents. We are now divorcing and he let the children (both under 8) and I stay at the house until we found a new place. I have found a new home but the problem is that I can not move in until the 2nd week of May and the in-laws (not my ex, altho he doesn’t speak up) want us out before than. I did contact an attorney who said that they can’t throw us out and it would be foolish for them to spend $ on legal fees when I plan on moving out already. But everyday so far they come into the house and go thru our things. Twice now, I have stepped out of the shower only to walk (naked, I might add) to them sitting in my LR or kitchen. Can I legally change the locks as long as I give them the keys after we leave? They give no notice of coming over. My husband is staying w/ them until we leave and changed his mailing address w/ the post office so they can’t even say they are here for him.
The house is in the in-laws’ name which was our deal until we paid off the loan.

My friend lives with his girlfriend and neither are happy. They have lived together for almost 10 years. The house is in his name and he owns his own business. They have no children together. He wants her to move out but she refuses. She threatens to take half of what is his. She has no money and can’t hold a job. He has numorous savings accounts. Is she able to claim common law marriage and take half of what is his? He never gave her a ring and only 2 utility bills are in her name. Please help…

Common law Marriage and pawn shops?

common house law

My friend has been living with this lady for over 2 years. They have filed taxes together, and here in Oklahoma that makes them common law married. Now, while living at that residence, some jewelry was taken from the house and pawned to pay bills. There have been 5 separate accounts of where my friend has taken some of her Jewry and sold it. She has been aware of this and is holding it over his head as black mail. Can she do this, or since they are common law married doesn’t that make whats hers….his?

common house law

A friend of mine has been living with her boyfriend for 15 years. They meet the PA criteria for Common Law Marriage. They live in a house in her name only, which she is paying for. He drinks heavily, does not work (has not worked for over 5 years), and has lately started becoming very mean and borderline abusive. She has decided that she wants to either “force” him into rehab or just end things. He will not agree to get sober and she knows she cannot make him. But she has no idea how to end things with him. She has told him she wants to end it. But he will not leave. How can she legally pursue getting him out of her life without losing half of her house and everything she owns (remember, he has nothing. He is a freeloader) or turning this into an ugly situation where he gets violent and causes her additonal grief. Or is there any way she can force him to get sober?? I have no idea what to tell her.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Serious answers only, please.

I sometimes lay out sunbathing topless on my stomach but always put the top on when turning on my back. My neighbor( boring prudish woman;) complained.
What are the laws about that? Would this be considered indecent exposure?
I own the house and there is a small fence between me and the neighbors but they can still see from their windows upstairs…Thanks for any info!

I’m a single mom. I have just bought a house with my partner of 3 years and we split every bill half ways, my half of the bills equivalent to what i was paying on my own. Now I have to claim him as Common law and this will not intitle me to any Child Tax Benifit. Without this I can not afford to take care of myself or my children. I will have to leave my boyfriend.

I have had this condo for more than 2 years. My in-laws are planning to retire in Florida so they want to buy in from me. How could they take over the payments? Do I have to sell it to them without having to pay anything out of pocker? Do I need a realtor or broker?
