When people ask questions about seeing other people once separated, they are often told to wait till the divorce is final.
What if the couple was only common-law , or living together, for many years and had a house and/or kids together????? Do those rules go out the door, or do ethics say that common-law couples splitting up should follow regular divorce ‘protocol’????
Anyone know the Common-Law rules for the Toronto, Ontario, Canada area?

We just paid off our house and property today. We have approx 45,000.00 in equity in the real estate. Our house is 750sq ft. We have a 8yr old daughter and a 6 yr old son. My credit score is around 400 or so. ALot of people around here are building metal buildings and living in them since they are so cheap. We can have a building built and living in for 20,000.00. Thats an open floor plan but with bathrooms. Where can a person in our situation go to get financed. We understand we will be paying high interest rates.

We need to sell our house fast and for a good price, and we can’t afford a realtor. Even for sale by owner.com is too expensive. Any other ideas? We are in Forest Grove, Oregon, if what you recommend is area specific.

Ok, I am tried of all the scams and rip off companies and the endless sea of dead ends. I can not even get my bank to look at my contract for deed and the good payment history for 16 years. I ran intoa hardship and filed bankrupcy a year ago. I have student loans that I can not pay yet, some small collections and some medical bills. I only need a loan for $13,000 that is only 10% of the value. Circumstances require my own financing now. My house payment has always been payed on time.

NZ has high variable rate in OECD and has low GDP$27,300 and average home prices over 500K looks like a recipe for a major disaster. Why country of only 4 million people,new home owners pay over 500K ridiculous amount of money for housing, something is really out of wack here, The people in NZ are slaved to the banks I rather live in poor country with cheeper housing than pay these ridiculous amount on interest for housing which is variable and moves independent of the reserve bank. This is all due to Banks/Government monopoly in the housing market. This is financial slavery and discrimination of the poor by the rich. There is credit crisis globally and lenders have been raising interest rate independent of the reserve bank NZ Home prices are way too high and is not sustainable by any means I predict a major Housing market collapse in NZ, with speculator and stupid bank lending the cause of this major crisis very similar to what we are seeing in USA Home Price bust.

I have lived with my boyfriend in Texas for 2 and a half years. We were on an apartment lease together and now he bought a house and we both live here. I am not on the morgage of the house and don’t pay the morgage, but did pay rent in the apartment. What makes you common law married? my boyfriend married another woman and i went to see an attorney because we own a house together – the attorney’s office drafted a dissolution of marriage document on my behalf and never told me about it…never filed the thing – i never signed it….i just found out 1 year later that the attorney’s office did this….i took my boyfriend back after he annuled the marriage to the other person and now he is trying to say that we are common law married – and that i was showing proof by a document that i didnt’ know existed – that i considered myself to be common law married to him….if the document that i didn’t see never got filed, obviously i didn’t file it…i didn’t even know it existed….is that a valid document and wouldn’t the fact that he actually married another woman count that he never held me to be his spouse because he never held me over any other?

I have a SUV that I owe 18,000 dollars on. It only blue books for 15,000. We’ve been to dealerships, nobody will let us trade it in because we have no down pymt and we are upside down on the pymt.
If we let the car go to repossession, they auction it, it doesnt bring the payoff, in what ways will they come after me for the remainder? Can they take my home?
We arent behind on it, we just can no longer afford it. We dont have good enough credit to get a loan for the remainder payoff if were were to private sell it. Friends and family giving us the money wont work because they dont have it either.

I was diagnosised with cancer in April of this year and have to undergo to different surgeries thus causing me to lose my income. Due to the excessive medical bills we are currently behind on our mortage payments and are facing a possible foreclosure. Is there anyway to keep our home and be able to get our payments back on track? We are finally getting back on track but still cannot make the back payments. We are still living on my husbands income alone. Help!!! I have no idea what to do or where to go for assistance. We have 3 children and do not want to lose our home. Can anyone give me some advice?? I recently tried to purchase a home, and was denied because of inadequate credit history and income. I own my own business and have not shown a large profit because of write offs. I am now renting a home with a contract that I must purchase the home in one year. My income is about 25,000 and my credit score is around 645. I do not have any negative credit, but the only credit that I do have is small, new accounts. (all of which are in good standing). Can anyone offer advice on the steps that I can take to ensure a loan? Thanks!!!

My Aunt lost her common law husband of 20+ years, he left money for her to take care of herself and his stepchild and grandkids. His mother found out that they were not legally married and wants all of the money. She is going to lose the house & can’t afford the bills that they have generated. How does she fight when she can’t afford a lawyer and California does not recognize common law marriage. Please help she has been through enough.

i bought a house in jan 2006 using a fixed discounted rate mortgage with northern rock which ends in jan 2008.in dec 2006 i got a loan which is secured on my house.in jan 2008 when my discounted rate finishes will i have trouble finding a new mortgage deal due to having the loan secured on the house?

I have been trying to find home gyms that can be financed. I would rather own the equipment and save more money instead of paying to go to a gym.
