I have a relaive. She has lived with a man for 18 years. They filed taxes as “married”the whole time. There are a lot of assets involved. Now,the relationship has busted. The house is in “his name”although she has bank records where she has been involved with the payments for the entire time. Now,the man is telling her she must leave,it is HIS house. So,how would the dissolution of a common law marriage work?I mean the division of assets.Should she see a divorce atty? They were never legally married.Anyone familiar with the law please help.Somehow,I am the “answer man”in the family as I know a lot of things…The law isn’t one of them.I’m thinking divorce atty, but am stuck on the fact that there was no marriage.18 years of building assets together though, seems she should be entitled to half? What to do?What is the first step?Thank you in advance

What is the quickest way to halt a foreclosure. I do not have the cash to bring it out of arrears and the bank has accellerated the note. Is Bankruptcy the best way to stop it for now. I have placed it up for sale and have a couple of parties interested. I am running out of time. The bank does have mortage insurance on the note . Please give solid advice.

My family rents from a home but we do not have access to the garage at our house. Repo men have come to our home asking us for the car which we know nothing of. They keep saying that they know the car is in the garage but the property owner does not give us keys to that garage. They keep harassing us at many hours of the night and we tell them that the property owner lives down the street and to go bug them. Are there any laws or forms that we can show them so they stop bugging us?

My husband and I have come upon financial difficulties due to Social Security not paying us for the month of December. My husband works full time at a local factory and part-time at the local Grocer. I work part-time at the local Senior Center and we are BARELY making ends meet. Our house is currently for sale and has been on the market for over 2 years. We feel that we would have a little more breathing room financially if we sold our house and bought another smaller house that we have made a bid on. I have been swindled by a Real Estate Solutions company that made false promises. I need results now! I feel that we would have less money problems if we sold our house now! Please Help!

I live in the state of MS. I have been separated for 2 years, but not divorced my wife won’t sign the papers. During our separation I told her she could keep the mobile home we shared along with everything else she wanted as long as she payed for the notes. The mobile home is 2 months behind and about to be in repossession. I am the primary owner on the account, my father is secondary signer, and she signed thirdly just because she was my wife. Can I legally make her move out of it and me move back in it and pay for it myself before it ruins my credit any worse? If so how would I go about doing it legally?

Ok, my dad just told me he was thinking about re-financing our home. I have always heard that this is something you don’t want to be doing. So can you please explain it, and if it is good,or bad. Thanks.

I have my own realtor but the seller , don’t want me to use my realtor so he want have to buy him comission. He said he would let me use my realtor but he would up the price of the house. So he could pay him commission and still get the asking price of the house. But then it would be more than my loan approval. The seller said he would give me a warranty for a year for piece of mind. So that makes me feel better. If I don’t use my realtor would I be spending more money or less. How does it work when you buy a house for sale buy owner? I’ve only looked at house that real estate agents are helping to sell. Will I close faster this way. Please give me your advice. Also who handles all the paper work.
